Articulate Technologies was born from a team of speech pathologists and MIT trained engineers who were frustrated by the lack of new technology available to speech therapists.  From the start, Articulate Technologies has set out to provide clinically significant treatments for speech and communication disorders.  We do this by integrating sound engineering and design principles, scientific testing in clinics, and a deep knowledge of the practice of speech therapy.  Speech Buddies, Articulate Technologies’ first product line, are designed to treat articulation disorders, the most common form of speech disorders in the United States.  Language Buddies is a follow-on product line to help those learning English as a second language acheive perfect pronunciation.

Our Team

Gordy Rogers, M.S. CCC-SLP, Co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer

Gordy is principal investigator for all Speech Buddies’ clinical efficacy programs and is a regular contributor to the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association’s research and commercial programs.  His clinical practice at Village Speech Solutions in New York City focuses on speech and articulation disorders for on preschool and school-aged children.  Gordy earned his Bachelor of Arts in linguistics from Yale University and his Master of Science in speech-language pathology from Teachers College at Columbia University.  He lives in New York City with his wife and son.

Alexey Salamini, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer

Alexey is a medical device entrepreneur with a passion for developing elegant solutions to help improve global standards for health care.  Prior to founding Articulate Technologies, Alexey helped found Miramar Labs, a dermatology start-up spun out of the Foundry, a medical device incubator.  Alexey began his career as a product designer and manager at IDEO where he developed products in a variety of industries from consumer electronics and medical devices to kitchen accessories and office furniture.  Alexey received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Princeton University and holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering and MBA from MIT.  In his youth, he won a gold medal for the United States at the 1999 World Rowing Championships; now he is happy trekking in the California wilderness.

Adrienne Penake, Chief Financial Officer

Adrienne is a finance professional who has spent her career in banking and consulting services.  Prior to joining Articulate Technologies, she was an Associate Director at Bear, Stearns & Co. in San Francisco where she specialized on portfolio construction and balance sheet strategies for banks and corporations. She began her career as a Fixed Income Analyst for Goldman Sachs in New York.  Adrienne is a Chartered Financial Analyst, received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Northwestern University, and is a published author on fixed income investment strategy.  She spent two years on the Board of Directors for the Financial Women’s Association of San Francisco and is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of San Francisco.  She lives in San Francisco with her husband and daughter.
